Duties

The National Use of Force Team (NUFT) is responsible to manage use of force (UoF) issues, including firearms programs, national UoF training and recertification framework, and UoF equipment for ensuring national officer safety and managing related risks and liabilities in environmental/wildlife enforcement operations.

As a Senior Use of Force Advisor, you will:
• Deliver and facilitate learning related to law enforcement
• Provide subject matter expertise to learners and trainers
• Design course training standards and organize, coordinate, and evaluate courses and training events
• Research subject area, prepare lesson plans and other resource material, and design tests and examinations

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to permanently staff 3 AS-05 positions.

A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) with various linguistic profiles and security requirements across Canada.

Federal accredited Use of Force / Police Defensive Tactic Instructor credentials or equivalent.

Federal accredited Basic Firearms Instructor credentials or equivalent.

Must successfully pass periodic medical evaluations throughout the career in accordance with Environment and Climate Change Canada’s occupational health monitoring requirements.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Must obtain and maintain a St. John’s Ambulance Standard First Aid Certificate or equivalent, and CPR Level C certificate.

Must undertake training to maintain or upgrade knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.

Must carry a sidearm and other personal protective equipment.
