Duties

Working in the Operations Branch in the Rail Safety Directorate at Transport Canada, you will learn and develop in your role as a PROGRAM INTEGRATION OFFICER . You will have the opportunity to apply your client service skills to retrieve data and collect information in support of the compliance and safety program, contribute to projects while developing and networking with various groups and individuals, as well as deliver on research projects by conducting studies, surveys and other information gathering activities to assist senior staff in planning and reporting.

The Rail Safety Directorate is responsible for advancing the safety of the Canadian rail transportation system through regulations, outreach and oversight. For example, we:
• conduct audits and inspections of railway operations
• develop policies and regulations
• promote education and awareness of rail safety hazards
• issue notices or notices and orders to address safety threats identified by our inspectors
We also:
• develop and deliver training programs for inspectors
• consult with stakeholders and the public on policy and regulatory development

The position is located at 427 Laurier Avenue West, Ottawa, Ontario. Candidates can expect a hybrid work model following Treasury Board Secretariat guidelines. At the time of hiring, a work arrangement will be put in place, which may be modified over time based on various considerations such as operational requirements.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) position. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions with various tenure at Transport Canada.

Education:
ED: A secondary school diploma or a combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience :
EX1: Experience in retrieving information and collecting data to support recommendations for internal stakeholders and management.
EX2: Experience in delivering client services or programs that require providing information or explanation to business partners, stakeholders or the general public.
EX3: Experience in preparing communication pieces such as briefing notes, correspondence, reports, or presentations.
EX4: Experience using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience:
AEX1: Experience in course development or instructional design and applying adult learning principles.
AEX2: Experience in Filing Management or using Cloud based technology.
