Duties

• Conduct literature review and summarize information under different formats.
• Conduct field and lab research with focus on nitrogen sources, plant growth, spatial and economic analysis.
• Collect and maintain primary and secondary data.
• Perform statistical analyses of data, present and discuss results.

Work environment

Under supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting research on variable application of nitrogen fertilizers of projects titled “Evaluation of Variable Rate Applied Enhanced Efficiency N Fertilizers on Wheat and Canola -Field Scale Management Zones Comparison.” The incumbent will be based physically; partially in Saskatoon Research and Development Centre (SRDC) and at the Canadian University in which they are enrolled.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a Master’s or PhD program in a recognized post-secondary institution with one of the following specialization:
Soil Science, Geographic information System (GIS), Economics Plant science, Environmental Science or related disciplines.

Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.

Degree equivalency

Experience*:
Experience* in Geographic Information System (GIS)– spatial analysis, soil or plant related field or field work.

*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Operational Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel.
Ability to perform repetitive sampling, and carrying experimental setups.

Reliability Status security clearance - Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment and, therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.

Other Conditions of Employment:
Possession of a valid class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license, or other provincial/territorial equivalency.
