Duties

Duties of the Building Systems Control Tech position include (but are not limited to):

↪ Perform building automation systems (BAS) system wide checks, backups, and collect findings.
↪ Respond to service request based on priority level, to diagnose issue and provide solution(s) to fix.
↪ Liaise with other shops and contractors as required.
↪ Keep building automation systems (BAS) databases up to date and reliable.
↪ Perform maintenance on workstations and service computers as required.
↪ Service/replace/calibrate sensors, relays, contactors, controllers as required.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) English essential indeterminate position in Trenton, Ontario.

The official location of the position (designated worksite) to be staffed is CFB Trenton and requires full-time onsite attendance.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of National Defence.

Advise of possession of any of the following valid Provincial / Territorial Trade Certificate, diploma, degree or Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate of qualifications:

AOC1. 447A Instrumentation and Control Technician.

AOC2. Mechanical Engineering/Technology.

AOC3. 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic.

AOC4. Certified Engineering Technician (Mechanical/ Electrical).

AOC5. Building Science.

AOC6. Industrial Process Control.

AOC7. 4th Class Power (Operating) Engineer.

AOC8. Canadian Armed Forces Plumbing and Heating or Refrigeration and Mechanical Systems Technician qualification DP2A (QL5) or higher.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

COE1. Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Class “G” driver’s licence issued by the Province of Ontario or provincial/territorial equivalent.

COE2. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DND 404 driver’s license.

COE3. Current and acceptable driver’s abstract.

COE4. Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) used in a construction/maintenance environment.

COE5. May be required to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding and work from heights. Work may include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, sitting, color determination, speaking and listening, and working in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.

COE6. Willing and able to travel to undertake training as required.

COE7. Willing and able to work offsite from CFB Trenton as required.

COE8. Must be willing and able to work overtime and be on standby or call back.

COE9. Must be willing and able to carry work cellphone.
