An (EG-04) Design Analyst works under the guidance and direction of the Senior Project Manager as part of the Project Team.
Primary responsibility is to assist in all aspects of delivering real estate property projects including; assisting in the preparation of technical project related documentation such as concept designs, Scope of Work. Planning, organizing, directing and controlling project and/or activities related to real estate property management. As well as the acquisition or renovation, operation and disposal of real property goods.
The work requires a considerable degree of initiative, judgment, innovation, responsibility and problem solving. As well as frequent visits to facilities and construction sites which may involve overnight stays. Supervising staff(s). Promoting a healthy, safe, fair and productive work environment.

The intent of this process is to fill 1 term or indeterminate EG-04 vacancy in London, Ontario. A pool of candidates may be established to staff same or similar positions at various tenures.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a) Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b) Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the EG classification.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the EG classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in designing functional layouts for Real Estate Facilities.
Recent experience in at least four of the following Real Property Project Activities:
(“Recent” is defined as having attained one year of experience within the last two (2) years)
• Design/construction drawing review
• Estimating
• Budget Control
• Construction management
• Site review/inspection
• Move Management
• Project reporting
• Project close-out
Experience using the following Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience in using AutoCAD to prepare layouts for projects.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of Provincial and/or Federal Building Codes.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of project management
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of financial management related to construction management
• Knowledge of Real Property Management as they relate to Projects

Successful completion of approved post-secondary school or currently working towards obtaining a diploma in:
• Architecture/architectural technology
• Engineering

• Other related disciplines
DESIGNATION
• Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation.
• Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) designation.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Environmental management
• Developing project schedules
• Applying construction technical or trades knowledge within a construction project management environment.
Experience providing advice to stakeholders.
Experience in contracting and procurement of goods and services.
Experience in working with SAP software.
Enhanced Reliability Status with Secret Clearance.
Possession of a valid full driver's licence.
Willingness and ability to travel.
Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.

Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel expenses.
Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain an RCMP security clearance may involve but is not limited to a security/reliability interview and a field investigation which includes matters of criminal activity, verification of credit/financial status, reference checks, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
