Duties

Receives goods, inspects packaging for compliance to quality standards and against contract specification; accepts/rejects shipments that are non-compliant (e.g. damaged packaging); stores goods; creates/updates/maintains inventory information in computerized inventory systems; applies asset numbers accordingly. Conducts periodic inventory counting/verification and recommends inventory re-order levels.

Packages and ships stock utilizing various automated shipping systems to various Detachments in the NWR, individual members and units. Assists clients by coordinating bulk shipments/return of Fleet Assets. Ships, as required, to manufacturers nationally and internationally respecting shipping guidelines.

Ensures that RCMP policy for Fleet Assets disposal is applied; coordinates method of disposal with clients, Technicians and local contract companies; updates/removes inventory information from computerized inventory systems once assets are disposed of.

Operates a variety of powered and manual warehouse equipment (platform lifts, pallet jacks, forklifts, carts/dollies and other warehouse tools and equipment) to transport inventory around the warehouse, as well as unit vehicles to make local deliveries where required.

Intent of the process

Indeterminate full time position.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar permanent and/or temporary vacancies.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Experience in materiel control duties in a warehouse facility in a minimum of two (2) of the following: shipping, receiving, packaging, stocktaking, picking, inventory control.


Experience operating a computerized material inventory system database such as SAP, SOE, Support Magic, MS Access.

Experience in operating a computer using the Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, MS Excel.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Successful completion of secondary school education or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Possession of a current Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) certificate**.


Possession of a Provincial, Territorial, or other Federal Departmental fork lift certification.

RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance.

Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

Willingness and ability to lift and carry boxes or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
