Duties

1. Assist scientific staff in the organization and completion of field, laboratory and office tasks related to forest research experiments. Activities may include conducting field data collection following established protocols, processing, and measuring samples, field site evaluations, and working with FSWEP.
2. Assist in the management of data collected from field sites. This includes the handling and filing of hard copy data, data entry into digital formats, data and quality control using standard computer software.
3. Maintains equipment (e.g. instruments, field equipment, data loggers, and vehicles) and facilities (e.g. lab and storage facilities) and to be organized clean and in working order.
4. Aid and assist tree plant preparations within forest research areas which may include, plot layout, location of experimental boundaries, installing and maintaining experimental landmarks (pins, tags, posts).
5. Adheres to health and safety guidelines, processes, and procedures.

Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in natural science or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

• Experience collecting data and information for use in research or natural resource management activities.
• Experience navigating using compass/GPS technology.
