Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada currently has an opening for a Study Coordinator to join our talented team of highly skilled researchers who are advancing discoveries in functional foods.
In this highly interactive role, the Study Coordinator will assist the research scientist by recruiting and screening participants, coordinating the day-to-day running of the research, collecting data, producing reports and ensuring certain regulations and ethical standards are met. Data collection may involve physical assessments (i.e. blood pressure, height/weight, % body fat, etc.), collecting/processing biological samples (i.e. blood/urine) or administering questionnaires.
We are seeking someone who has strong communication and teamwork skills, as you will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with study participants and other departments and external agencies, to ensure a smooth operation of the research projects.
About Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM):
CCARMโs vision is to add value to agricultural commodities and finished products through innovative functional food and nutraceutical research. The CCARM research program aims to translate positive results from basic laboratory science into new and safe dietary supplements and food products that will directly impact the health of the Canadian public.
From laboratory to human research, CCARM conducts clinical research studies (clinical trials) of food products and nutraceuticals identified as having potential beneficial effects on diseases that are of clinical and financial significance to Canadians. Diseases targeted thus far include immune disorders, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases.
CCARM represents an ongoing unique partnership between the St. Boniface Hospital, the University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and is located within the St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre and the I.H. Asper Clinical Research Institute.
The study coordinator will work at the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM) at the St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre โ One of Canadaโs Top 40 Research Hospitals 2022.
โ ๏ธ The nature of this position requires a full-time on-site presence; however, a teleworking arrangement may be possible on occasion.
The immediate need is to fill one (1) indeterminate position in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at other research centres across Canada with various tenures, security or linguistic requirements.

๐ EDUCATION
โข A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in one of the following fields: nutrition, nursing, medical laboratory technology or a related program.

Experience in coordinating research projects involving humans.

โข Maintaining essential documents
โข Handling and processing biological specimens (blood, urine, etc)

โข Registered dietitian, nurse or phlebotomist.

ASSET EXPERIENCES
โข Experience preparing documents necessary for Research Ethics Board submissions, drafting reports, standard operating procedures and/or equipment user manuals.
โข Experience using REDCap software.
โข Experience with dietary nutrient intake analysis using a software program like Food Processor.
โข Experience with Intermediate to advanced computer programs: such as the ability to develop and use pivot tables, and creating and maintaining a database in Excel.
โข Experience performing Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays.
