Intent of the process: The immediate need is to fill one vacancy in Baie Verte. This process may be used to staff various tenures, including indeterminate, specified period, deployment, assignment, secondment and acting.

Education:
• Successful completion of a minimum two year program from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the duties of the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience; AND
• Successful completion of the Fishery Officer Career Progression Program (FOCPP), (http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/career-carriere/enf-loi/training-formation-eng.htm) OR an acceptable combination of education**, training and experience working in law enforcement.

Equivalencies/related field of work
• Renewable/Natural Resources and Habitat Management: Experience in activities pertaining to: Water Management, Forest Management, Wildlife Management, Fisheries Management, Habitat Management, Eco Systems Management and Environment Protection.
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years experience in planning and conducting enforcement activities.
• Experience in identifying, coordinating, and implementing compliance priorities.
Asset Experience:
• Experience as a fishery officer
• Experience in supervision.
• Experience with analysis and interpretation of data (e.g. from NETS, FEATS, DVS, weekly reports, fishery profiles, intelligence information).
• Experience conducting or leading criminal, intelligence, or regulatory investigations
• Experience in major case management and prosecution.

Operational Requirements
• Carry and use firearms and other restricted and prohibited weapons;
• Meet the DFO use of force proficiency standards;
• Wear a uniform and required protective clothing;
• Willingness to work and/or travel at sea or by air and in a variety of terrains and degrees of isolation for various periods of time in all weather conditions.
• Willing and able to undertake training relevant to the position;
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice;

• Deployment to any part of the country, or assignment to all types of enforcement activities such as inland, coastal and offshore patrols, and forensic investigations and special operations;
• Meet medical and psychological suitability standards;
• Possession of a valid driver’s license, a current standard First Aid Certificate and a CPR Certificate;
