Duties

Some of the duties of the Regional Licensing Officer include:
• Applying and communicating operating policies, procedures, standards and tools in a client service environment.
• Reviewing, renewing or amending licenses or license applications.
• Determining if legal requirements and documentation of license applications are met.
• Recommending licences be issued or denied.
• Providing written and verbal feedback to internal and external clients.
• Information management.

Work environment

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is following the direction from the Office of the Chief Human Resource Officer on the introduction of a common hybrid work model across the federal public service. This common hybrid work model consists of work on site at least 2–3 days each week, or 40–60% of the regular schedule.

Intent of the process

This process is to staff one (1) anticipatory position in Sydney, Nova Scotia on an indeterminate (permanent) or determinate (temporary) basis. This process may also be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels, linguistic requirements, or work locations within Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

EDUCATION

A secondary school diploma or an employer approved alternative.

The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• Experience providing procedural and/or policy advice to clients.
• Experience inputting and verifying data in an electronic information management system or database.
• Experience triaging, responding to, and following up on client or organizational request, to satisfy service standards and/or meet deadlines.
