The Assistant Communicable Disease Coordinator reviews and assesses results under the Public Health Act, including category 1 and 2 reportable diseases. Following guidance from the Medical Health Officer, they support case and contact tracing, treatment and follow-up.
First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB), Indigenous Services Canada, is recruiting Registered Nurses to provide quality, evidence-informed nursing services, respectful of culture and intended to enhance the health of First Nations peoples in Saskatchewan. The Registered Nurse collaborates in the delivery of comprehensive health programs which include promoting, protecting and preserving the health of First Nations populations. Health Care programs are designed in partnership with community members and leaders to promote environments that support good health.
By joining our team, you will build strong working relationships with First Nation communities, partners, and health professionals. The maintenance of cultural competence and the provision of culturally safe care are paramount in these areas of practice.
The immediate need is to staff two Assistant Communicable Disease Coordinators based out of Regina, Saskatchewan.
A pool of qualified or partially assessed candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment, various tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate), and in various locations within Saskatchewan.

Education:
•Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in nursing
Occupational Certification:
•Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada
Experience:
•Minimum of three years experience in nursing
•Experience managing or leading a healthcare program, healthcare services, or healthcare team
•Experience collaborating with stakeholders such as First Nations community health practitioners or provincial partners in coordinating healthcare services
Asset Qualifications:
•Graduation with a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position
•Experience with community development principles and strategies
•Experience with community engagement
•Experience teaching or giving presentations
•Experience writing documents relating to process or policy development
•Experience working with Indigenous people or organizations
•Experience using the Panorama Public Health Information System or other electronic charting tool
•Experience in communicable disease management
•Experience interpreting and implementing best practice guidelines
•Experience using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or a computer database system such as Electronic Service Delivery Reporting Template

•Willingness and ability to work overtime in the event of a Public Health emergency or outbreak
Conditions of Employment:
•Reliability Status Security Clearance
•Valid driver's licence or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license
•Current BLS Certification (healthcare provider CPR)
•Continuous professional registration, in good standing, or eligibility to register with College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
