ROLE and KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Open Source Unit supervisor oversees a team of analysts that develop, coordinate and provide tactical intelligence, research & analysis services, as well as investigative techniques to support investigations with an Internet component to clients.
1. Plans, manages, and directs open source information (OSI) and open source intelligence (OSINT) analysis for a team of analysts to support the production of analytical deliverables to meet client needs.
2. Provides subject matter expertise in the OSI and OSINT analytical field to clients through delivery of information and/or training sessions at various venues.
3. Liaises with management and operational clients on complex/sensitive OSI and OSINT analytical matters, provides options for securing analytical services, and defines and implements service delivery models for analytical services to manage priorities.
4. Establishes and maintains a network of internal and external contacts within the OSI and OSINT community to meet ongoing business requirements, and identifies strategic challenges and opportunities in that field, including trends that affect the client organization.
5. Participates in conferences, seminars and training courses; reviews and maintains awareness on relevant seminars and training courses available to support development in the tactical internet collection analysis field; coordinates input on the development of new tools and technics.
6. Supervises human resources and administrative functions for a team of analysts which encompasses staffing, orientation, resource allocation, training, goal setting, coaching, conducting performance assessments, providing developmental opportunities and performing quality assurance reviews.
The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar temporary, and/or permanent positions (including acting appointments and deployments).
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. A University degree or a College degree and 2 years of relevant experience
Recent experience in planning, managing, and directing a team to support the production deliverables to meet client needs.
Recent experience in providing subject matter expertise to clients through delivery of information and/or training sessions at various venues.

*Recent experience is defined as experience normally associated with having directly performed the functions on a continuous basis within the last 2 years.
*Significant experience is defined as experience normally associated with having directly performed the functions for a period of a minimum of 2 years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).
- Experience using Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS).
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
Bilingual Imperative - Level: CBC / CBC; if no candidate meets this requirement, the position may be staffed on a non-imperative basis. Non-bilingual candidates are therefore encouraged to submit their applications.
This position requires proficiency in both official languages, English and French, at the above-noted level. If you do not meet the language requirements of this position and the appointment is being made on a non-imperative basis, you will be exempted by the Public Service Official Languages Exclusion Approval Order from meeting the official language proficiency requirements at the time of an appointment. Top Secret security clearance - of the RCMP.
