Duties

As the Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for the provision of technical services and advice in the planning, development, implementation, integration and maintenance of FCAC’s Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, in support of service delivery to internal and external clients, and stakeholders. You will also assist in the establishment and promotion of the IT security program, and in the delivery of training sessions related to IT infrastructure.

Work environment

The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) is a separate agency established in 2001 to protect consumers by supervising federally regulated financial entities and strengthening the financial literacy of Canadians. We are a small agency subject to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA), and we have our own unique classification system (RE and REX) with relevant equivalencies noted above and we offer the same pension as the core public administration.

Intent of the process

We are seeking to staff one (1) indeterminate (permanent) position with a language requirement of bilingual imperative (BBB/BBB).

This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic requirements and/or profiles, security requirements and/or various tenures within FCAC, which may vary according to the position being staffed.

Indeterminate employees of the Federal Public Service who are substantively at the RE-04 group and level or equivalent may be considered for deployment.

EDUCATION:

Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Recent* experience providing technical support AND recommendations to clients;
Recent* experience in configuring AND maintaining cloud resources;
Recent* experience configuring AND maintaining Information Technology (IT) security components (e.g. Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), antivirus, antispam, Intrusion Detection System/Intrusion Prevention System (IDS/IPS), firewall, etc.); and,
Recent* experience configuring, maintaining AND troubleshooting physical IT infrastructure components (e.g. servers, switches, routers, Wi-Fi access points, printers, Internet of Things, etc.).

*Recent experience is defined as an experience that was attained within the last three (3) years.

EXPERIENCE :

Experience configuring OR supporting enterprise virtualization solutions. (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, Azure VM, etc.).
Experience configuring OR supporting cloud software solutions (e.g. ServiceNow, Salesforce, Zendesk, Dynamics 365, Intune, Exchange, Active Directory, Teams etc.)
Experience configuring OR supporting a data management, processing or storage solution (e.g. SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, etc.)
