The CanmetMINING Sudbury laboratory is seeking an Electrical Technologist to work within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a key role in our research projects, spanning both in the field and laboratory work, with a primary focus on assessing performance of mining Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). The responsibilities of the successful candidate include, but are not limited to, planning and executing field and laboratory activities; operating, maintaining and setting up data loggers, sensors and other specialized equipment including a battery analyzer; developing / validating battery and BEV testing procedures; conducting basic data analysis; troubleshooting and solving performance issues with test methods and equipment; and actively contributing to the preparation of technical reports and scientific manuscripts.

Education
Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary training program in electrical field or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the duties of the position.
Experience
• Experience working with electrical equipment between 12V and 800V.
• Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting electrical or electronic equipment.
• Experience working with data loggers and sensors.
Knowledge
• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology and safety requirements
• Knowledge of electrical instruments (i.e. voltmeter, ammeter, multimeter, current clamp, other)
• Knowledge of data processing and analysis
Abilities/Competencies
• Ability to manage time effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively orally

- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in an electrical field or some other speciality relevant to the position.
