Assessment accommodation

Duties

Pay Clerk:

• Compiles, maintains and updates records of pay activities in the pay system and generates pay reports
• Reviews, verifies and inputs employees’ pay claims in the pay system
• Responds to written and telephone inquiries from employees in consultation with supervisors
• Issues Records of Employment

Administrative Assistant:

• Assists management in day-to-day operations by providing administrative support
• Plans meetings, training sessions and conference calls, as well as organizes logistics, using Outlook and MS Teams
• Generates reports and prepares charts, graphs and other documentation
• Reviews and responds to internal inquiries and facilitates communication between various partners

Recruitment Clerk:

• Promotes census test employment opportunities within their designated work area by posting promotional material
• Communicates with candidates by phone to assess their job applications
• Performs data entry and records maintenance of recruitment files
• Responds to written and telephone inquiries regarding recruitment activities
• Conducts second language testing

What is a census test?
Between censuses, Statistics Canada takes steps to ensure that each census produces relevant information that Canadians can use to make informed decisions. The 2024 Census Test is conducted to evaluate the census questionnaire (including new and modified content) and collection procedures and tools to prepare for the 2026 Census of Population. To do so, we hire new employees to help assess these new procedures, systems, and tools.

Our ideal candidate is:

What is the work environment?
For the Administrative Assistant and Recruitment Clerk positions: staff for these positions will be working fully remotely from home.

For the Pay Clerk position: staff for this position will be working remotely from home for a majority of the time and will be required to work from a physical office in Ottawa on a rotational basis.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff three CR-04 positions.

The pool of qualified candidates established from this process may be used to staff similar positions for the 2024 Census Test with various linguistic profiles, tenures and/or security clearances.

Education:

• Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Degree equivalency

Essential Experiences:

• Experience in providing general administrative support services in an office environment
• Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) or similar software
