Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:

In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $26,770 to $44,616 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowance of approximately $2 000 twice a year for you and each eligible dependant.

As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.

Duties

Provides coordination services and assistance to the various planning commissions, in the close and continual consultation with federal partners and stakeholders, in the development and land use plans in accordance with the requirements of northern Comprehensive Land Claims Agreements including the Nunavut Agreement, the Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement, and the Eeyou Marine Region Land Claims Agreement, on behalf of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and the federal government. This coordination includes the participation or CIRNAC and its federal partners in the planning and review of all draft land use plans, which involves disseminating information, providing professional advice, working with partners to harmonize input, and leading the creation of the Government of Canada’s position and input into land use plans for presentation to the planning commissions and public.

The Land Use Planning Coordinator is part of the Resource Management team, which includes the Land Use Planning, Water Resources, Impact Assessment and Nunavut General Monitoring Plan divisions.

Intent of the process

Immediate need: One (1) full-time indeterminate position at Iqaluit, NU.

This process will be used to fill current vacancies and to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities (Deployment, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Term or Indeterminate) in Nunavut only, with various security requirements (reliability or secret).
