Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:
In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $26,770 to $44,616 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowances for you and your eligible dependents.
As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.
Workplace:
Employees must perform their duties from the Government of Canada’s physical workplace in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
The duties of the position range from working closely with Nunavut General Monitoring Plan (NGMP) funded project leads on the implementation and completion of their monitoring projects to working on and collecting monitoring data in order to ensure that the decision-makers in the Territory have the most up to date and accurate information available to them.
Working in Nunavut, Canada’s Eastern Arctic, is both challenging and exciting. Iqaluit has a significant number of amenities and a strong sense of community. You will be part of small but very professional team that works with researchers, universities, Inuit, Nunavut communities and other levels of government. The work that the Nunavut General Monitoring Plan (NGMP) does is extremely diverse and meaningful to the future well-being and development of the Territory.
Immediate need: One (1) full-time indeterminate position at Iqaluit, NU.
This process will be used to fill current vacancies and to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities (Deployment, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Term or Indeterminate) in Nunavut only, with various security requirements (reliability or secret).
By default, and in the interest of the greater public service, pools created as a result of staffing processes at CIRNAC may be shared with other government departments.

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Note: Candidates must always have a university degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Experience as a contributing member of a multi-disciplinary team or working group with partners and stakeholders such as: other Federal Departments or Agencies, Industry or the Private Sector, or Territorial or Provincial Governments, Indigenous Organizations.
• Experience participating in environmental or socio-economic monitoring activities.
• Experience conducting research or analysis to support policy, legislative or regulatory options for the consideration of trends and their impacts.

• A master-level degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in economics, statistics, environmental and/or socio-economic assessment or monitoring.
• Experience working within a multi-cultural environment, specifically as it relates to Inuit culture and values.
• Experience working within a Northern environment.
• Experience working within the Nunavut regulatory environment.
• Experience in establishing interdepartmental or intergovernmental or community based relationships.
• Experience with Northern socio or eco-systemic monitoring.

• Knowledge of the Nunavut Agreement and its role in monitoring environmental and socio-economic impacts.

Operational Requirements (may be requested, upon taking up the position):
• Willingness to provide coaching, mentoring and training to other staff on issues related to eco-systemic or socio-economic monitoring.
The following conditions must also be met on taking up the position and maintained throughout the employment:
• Security clearance: Reliability security clearance
• Able and willing to travel to small, remote communities via small aircraft.
• Able and willing to occasionally work overtime/weekends especially during public hearings.
• Health clearance (if required)
• Oath or Solemn Affirmation.
