Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:

In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $26,770 to $44,616 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowance of approximately $2 000 twice a year for you and each eligible dependant.

As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.

Duties

The Senior Advisor is a unique position that has the opportunity to be directly involved in the direction of the Nunavut Regional Office. We are looking for individuals with initiative and strong organizational skills, who are creative and passionate about their work. The work ranges from organizing ministerial visits and events, to leading a team that is responsible for the development and implementation of the Inuit Employment Plan. The Senior Advisor works with the regional directors and liaises with the Assistant Deputy Ministers office and other external partners to provide support. This position reports to the Director General for the Nunavut Office.

Work environment

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) continues to renew the nation-to-nation, Inuit-Crown, government-to-government relationship between Canada and First Nations, Inuit and Métis; modernize Government of Canada structures to enable Indigenous peoples to build capacity and support their vision of self-determination; and lead the Government of Canada's work in the North.

This position would give you an opportunity to live and work in Canada’s newest territory, a place unlike anywhere else in Canada. Housing and relocation assistance is provided.

Intent of the process

Immediate need: One (1) full-time indeterminate position at Iqaluit, NU.

This process will be used to fill current vacancies and to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities (Deployment, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Term or Indeterminate) in Nunavut only, with various security requirements (reliability or secret).

• Degree from a recognized university OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

• Experience developing recommendations and providing strategic advice to executives.
• Experience in developing and preparing notes (ex. Briefing notes, decision notes or memos) and strategic documents.
• Experience advising senior management on sensitive and complex* issues.
