Engineers at the Innovation Centre of Transport Canada design project test and evaluation plans based on approved work plans and related protocols to verify safety, efficiency or environmental technical parameters for advanced technologies, and align them with domestic and international industry and governmental engineering best practices. They also identify and solve technical problems during all phases of the testing (design, testing, delivery, and analysis).
For this job opportunity, one of the fields of expertise is cyber security, notably to assist road authorities in preparing for the integration of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) into their Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
Transport Canada (TC) is responsible for transportation policies and programs. We promote safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation. This group has a wide skillset that helps them manage complex agreements between the Crown and provincial and municipal governments, private stakeholders, and port and airport authorities.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in computer or software engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the following items (experience accrued from master’s and doctorate degrees will be considered):
Ex1. Experience working on/with industrial control systems (ICS), operational technology (OT), and/or embedded systems.
Ex2. Experience in project planning and project management.
Ex3. Experience conducting or writing technical reports or studies.
Ex4. Experience in working within project teams.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

KNOWLEDGE:
K1. Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts of engineering applicable to transportation technologies and processes
K2. Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
K3. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, network protocols, and secure software development
K4. Familiarity with connected and automated vehicle (CAV) and intelligent transportation system technology, architecture, and protocols.
