Duties

Carries out multiple functions with regard to stores. Loads and unloads shipments and materials.
Receives, inspects, counts and verifies ingoing and outgoing materials and ensures that quantities/items correspond to orders. May be required to requisition material from suppliers to maintain stock levels.
Prepares outgoing shipments, packages materials by packing, palletizing and strapping materiel and completes required shipping documents and preparing traffic, transportation and waybill documents.
Maintains stock/materials in storage, places in appropriate bins/storage areas and performs physical stock inspections and the rotation of stores materials and items, in accordance with established procedures. Recommend replacement, repair or disposal and take inventory of existing stock, including reporting and resolving/escalating discrepancies.
Maintains files and records, accounts and documentation both computerized and /or manual.
Operates various related software. Inputs data into a database and material distribution and supply systems and conducts queries and produces reports. Identifies, investigates and resolves discrepancies.
Reviews stores/material requisitions and issues and distributes materials. Determines if substitutions are available when requested items are not in stock, including consulting catalogues/material specifications and the client. When required, advising clients and co-workers on the proper handling, use, storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
Operates and performs minor operator maintenance (e.g. washing/cleaning and checking fluid levels) on Materials Handling Equipment (MHE). Operates MHE vehicles to pick up and deliver stores/ materials within the stores facility.
Contacts suppliers, contractors, lodger units, other sections of the base/wing to discuss and correct discrepancies in shipments, discuss substitutions for requested stock/material and advise clients of the availability of stock items. Answer queries, explain processes, procedures, regulations, entitlements and scales of issue and when functioning as a working member team lead, resolves/escalates complaints, as appropriate.
Maintains order and cleanliness of the work area resolving/reporting hazards.
May arrange pick-up and disposal of local surplus/obsolete materiel through Crown Assets disposal agents, contracted recycling agencies, scrap dealers, and the Supply Depot.
