Assessment accommodation

THIS PROCESS WILL ONLY BE USED TO STAFF POSITIONS AT HOUSING SERVICES CENTER TRENTON. NO POOL WILL BE ESTABLISHED FOR STAFFING AT OTHER LOCATIONS.

Duties

Some activities include :
- Identify, assess and document repair and maintenance requirements for CFHA housing units.
- Plan, organize and implement repair and maintenance work on CFHA housing units through service providers. This would include the preparation of repair and maintenance work orders.
- Oversee and confirm work/repair completion in accordance with the terms of the contract, specifications, technical codes and standards.
- Conduct responsive and preventive repair and maintenance inspections of housing units and equipment/systems.
- Provide customer services that includes responding to CFHA housing unit service requests, elaborating repair and maintenance plans/schedules on the housing units.
- Provide ongoing instruction, information and guidance to service providers, team members, and housing unit occupants.
- Assess and perform minor repair/installation and/or temporary fixes/solutions. This would include identifying and utilizing materials and tools required to complete the repairs.
- Prepare technical documentation and plans, provide coordination, collaboration and support for capital asset project design, development and implementation through external service providers.
- Maintain ongoing assessment and provide technical inputs with respect to housing unit operations, repairs, life cycle replacement, betterment projects and activities.

We are a team of 330 federal public servants who work hard to meet the needs of the Canadian Armed Forces families living in DND housing. We have close to 220 employees at our Housing Services Centres across Canada and 110 employees at our Head Office in Ottawa.

CFHA Trenton is a dynamic team of 11 full-time employees. We work together to provide housing services to approximately 548 Canadian Forces families at 8 Wing, the largest air force base in Canada. Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one English essential EG-03 position (or possibly a future EG-04) on a temporary basis. This process will be used to staff positions at Housing Services Center Trenton only. We invite everyone to apply, as a pool will be established for future permanent and temporary staffing at the Trenton Housing Services Center for English Essential positions.

EDU. A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note).

Note - The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
-A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
-An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE (EG-03 and EG-04):
• EX1. Experience in one of the following:
- Renovation of residential single-family, semi-detached or row housing units.
OR
- Conducting inspections and determining maintenance requirements of residential housing or commercial properties.

EXPERIENCE (EG-04 ONLY):
• EX2. Experience in property or facility maintenance or project management.

ASSET OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS (EG-03 and EG-04)
• AOC1. Possession of a valid journeyman's certificate in a residential building trade or certification as an engineering technologist or technician.
• AOC2. Interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber or Plumber/Gasfitter.

ASSET EXPERIENCE (EG-03 ONLY):
• AEX1. Experience in Project Management.

ASSET EXPERIENCE (EG-04 ONLY):
• AEX2. Supervisory experience.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (EG-03 and EG-04):
• Willing and able to travel.
• Willing and able to work overtime on an occasional basis.
• There is a requirement to limit vacation between the months of May and September
• Willing and able to meet the occasional requirement to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces or at heights such as second storey roofs.
