📢 The Operational Business department is currently looking for candidates to fill current and future needs in its team. Here are the main tasks:

STREAM 1 - Arctic Field Operations Centre Superintendent:
The Arctic Field Operations Centre Superintendent will lead the administration, management and safe, secure and effective operation of the Canadian Coast Guard’s Fleet Arctic Field Services, which is tasked to ensure the timely, effective and efficient movement of ships, cargo and personnel in Canadian Arctic ports and communities. The Superintendant supports a variety of Canadian Coast Guard programs and activities such as Marine Aids to Navigation, Search and Rescue, Icebreaking, Environmental Response, Hydrographic and Scientific Research as well as other government departments, agencies and private commercial businesses.

STREAM 2 - Deputy Superintendent Operational Business (Planning):
The Deputy Superintendent Operational Business (Planning) will provide leadership in the development of regional operational schedule, to include understanding client requirements and obtaining funding for Fleet Branch assets to support said requirements. She/he will also provide financial, technical and risk management advice and recommendations to clients and Canadian Coast Guard senior management in support of optimized operational and business plans for the deployment, management, and support of Fleet assets.

ED1: A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
ALL STREAMS:
EX1: Experience collaborating and working with a multi-disciplinary teams from different backgrounds (cultural and organizational) as well as collaborating with organizationally external stakeholders, partners (government and non-government) to achieve a common objective.
EX2: Experience in human resource and financial management, to include performance assessments, hiring of personnel and managing annual budgets.
EX3: Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations on complex and sensitive policy or program issues.

STREAM 1:
EX4: Experience in maritime operations and/or the delivery of maritime programs.
EX5: Experience in supply management, coordinating procurement activities and/or in logistics management in supporting operational activities in remote locations.

AEX1: Experience in maritime operations and/or the delivery of maritime programs.

KNOWLEDGE
ALL STREAMS:
AKN1: Knowledge of Canadian Coast Guard mission, vision, mandate and/or programs.

STREAM 1:
AKN2: Knowledge of the Arctic Northern Policy Framework.
AKN3: Knowledge of harbour management practices in remote environments to include beaching procedures, cargo handling, pollution prevention, small vessel operations, berthing operations and radio communication procedures.

ABILITY
STREAM 1:
AAB1: Ability to converse in Inuktitut.

ALL STREAMS:
• Work weekends and evenings.

STREAM 1:
• Ability to work on travel status in Iqaluit during Arctic season (June until November).
• Ability to travel on small planes, boats and helicopters.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

STREAM 1:
• Travel in small airplanes and helicopters, onboard boats and ships, as well as in off-road vehicles over rough and isolated terrain.
• Wear and maintain a uniform as per Canadian Coast Guard’s standards.
• Work overtime on short notice.
• Work at various locations which may include vessels and operational incident command posts in isolated areas for short periods.
• Hold a valid driver’s licence.

STREAM 2:
• Travel.
• Wear and maintain a uniform as per Canadian Coast Guard’s standards.
• Work overtime on short notice.
• Hold a valid driver’s licence.
