Provision of physical and mental health care, assistance with personal care needs (such as feeding, dressing, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming and toileting) and facilitating of social interaction and recreational activities in a hospital or health care setting within a Correctional Service Canada institution, often for geriatric or psychogeriatric patients.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) hires skilled Client Care Attendants from all backgrounds and areas of expertise to support the aging offender population and patients with extensive psychosocial needs.
Client Care Attendants at CSC play an important role in providing quality care to offenders incarcerated in Canada's federal institutions; they work in accredited mental health facilities as well as in Health Services Centers.
In their daily work, Client Care Attendants, in CSC contribute to the interdisciplinary team and focus on the prevention, care, and support of acute and chronic physical and mental health conditions of offenders.
Their interventions are extremely valued as they assist in maintaining the safety of Canadians by helping to improve offender health and reintegration into the community.

EDUCATION
Graduation from a certified Personal Support Worker Program or *equivalent or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
*Equivalent meaning either 1 year completed towards a bachelor in nursing or 1 year completed towards a diploma from a recognized college in nursing as a practical nurse.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a health care environment, including clinical practicum placement(s)* providing care to clients.
*Clinical practicum placement is defined as a guided clinical practice in selected nursing settings to facilitate the application of theoretical concepts and skills development into practice.

EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a correctional environment.
Experience assisting adults with complex needs who are physically and/or mentally compromised with activities of daily living.
Experience facilitating social interaction and recreational activities in a hospital or health care setting for geriatric or psychogeriatric patients.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and willingness to work shift work (days, evenings, nights, weekends, statutory holidays), overtime and variable hours.
Ability and willingness to work with federally incarcerated offenders.
