Transport Canada (TC) is responsible for transportation policies and programs. We promote safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation. The Programs Group manages a wide variety of programs and activities related to air, marine and surface infrastructure, waterways, the environment, and innovation. This group has a wide skillset that helps them manage complex agreements between the Crown and provincial and municipal governments, private stakeholders, and port and airport authorities.
Diversity — Count yourself in! ✨
Diversity and inclusion have always been at the core of Transport Canada's values. Diverse teams bring wide perspectives and creative ideas that benefit our clients, the communities we serve and all of us as colleagues. Be part of an organization that represents and includes the diverse identities, cultures, perspectives, and experiences that make up Canada!
TC continues its commitment to strengthening diversity, accessibility and inclusion through concrete actions that will reduce assessment biases and barriers and encourage more inclusive hiring practices. For example:
• Merit criteria (qualifications for the position) are established with inclusion in mind
• Assessment tools and methods are evaluated, and potential barriers are identified, removed, or mitigated
• Selection board members are diverse
• Selection board members are trained on unconscious bias via Canada School of Public Service COR120 - Inclusive Hiring Practices for a Diverse Workforce
• Dedicated resource through the "Career Navigator program" to better support Canadian Indigenous applicants when they apply for positions (for more information on services and support for Indigenous peoples in the hiring process, please contact the following: )
• Accommodations are made, when required, at each step of the process
• Documentation and communication with applicants will be accessible by default
TC is stronger and most effective when we reflect the diversity of the Canadian population we serve. TC is dedicated to building and promoting a diverse, equitable and inclusive force, representative of Canadian society. In support of achieving a diversified workforce, consideration may be given to candidates self-declaring as belonging to one of the following employment equity groups: Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities and women. Therefore, we encourage candidates to voluntarily indicate on their application if they are a member of one of these groups.
The intent of this process is to staff current and future vacancies within the Programs Group at Transport Canada (TC). A pool of qualified candidates will be created for future vacancies with similar official language requirements within TC.
NOTE: All federal employees are required to work from a Government of Canada workplace at least two to three times per week, or 40% to 60% of their regular schedule. At TC, we work at a worksite at least eight days during a four-week period. Worksites include spaces such as:
- TC approved worksites and collaborative spaces
