Duties

The Clearbrook Substation is a satellite location of the Agassiz Research and Development Centre. The purpose of this site it to support berry research in the region. This position required an onsite presence. The successful candidate will determine service and resource requirements with scientific, technical and managerial staff and contributes to the coordination of equipment and vehicle use between projects. The incumbant will also be responsible for the care and maintenance of the site, including research trials in surrounding area. This position requires a high attention to detail, concern for safety, and problem solving ability. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is organized, adaptable, and works well independently.

Work environment

Located in the beautiful Fraser Valley, the Agassiz Research and Development Centre addresses national agricultural priorities in the areas of horticultural and field crop production and protection.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions on a temporary or permanent basis.

EDUCATION
✅ A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
✅ Experience leading a group of employees including monitoring their work and progress.
✅ Experience operating and maintaining agricultural farm equipment.
✅ Experience in identifying and controlling field crop pests.
✅ Experience working with small fruit and berry production.
