We are seeking a project coordinator to assist in the development and writing of a Strategic Vegetation Management Plan (SVMP) for a military base. Developing a SVMP for this novel planning scenario involves using innovative forest management to address training, safety, and compliance issues unique to military bases. The successful candidate will coordinate consultation between the Department of Defense, Natural Resources Canada - Canadian Forest Service, the University of New Brunswick, and Western University on development of the SVMP. In collaboration with all project partners, the candidate will identify potential management actions to meet objectives as identified by the land owner (e.g. training, fire control, wood supply, carbon storage, and habitat quality). Novel silviculture prescriptions will need to be developed for land uses that are unique to military bases. The position will involve the development and implementation of a network of inventory plots used to monitor environmental indicators of management objectives. The successful candidate is expected to take part in project administration including staffing, reporting, and developing work plans.
The intent is to staff one determinate (1) position with Natural Resources Canada. A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar FO positions at Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) with various tenures (determinate or indeterminate), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, et c.), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.
