• Offer an in-house program for teaching, development and follow-up on French as a second language and other course arrangements.
• Analyze the specific learning plan and follow-up on training needs.
• Design, develop and deliver second language learning, development and follow-up.
• Assess the language skills for grading purpose and progress of learners.
• Advise learners on the basis of language tests.
• Consult and inform learners and share information with them in order to create and populate their academic record.
• Use second language training products according to learner.
• Advise, guide and coach learners who receive continuous training from private-sector or government sources.

Teaching format: Hybrid, mainly in virtual mode and, depending on the organization's needs, in-person at the workplace.
This process aims to fill French Second Language Training Advisor positions located in Ottawa.
If you don’t immediately receive a job offer at AAFC, qualified candidates may be placed in a talent pool to be used for staffing similar permanent or temporary positions in the future. The skill specialization(s), work location, and security clearance requirements will vary according to the position being staffed.

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics or some other specialty relevant to language teaching.
Note:
When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience:
• Recent and significant experience (at least 2 years) acquired within the past 5 years in teaching French as a second language to adult learners.
• Experience including the use of a wide range of teaching methods and various relevant methodologies.
• Experience in supervising learners’ progress and guiding them towards the achievement of their goals.
Various language requirements
You must be able to work in English AND French (reading, writing and speaking). The required level of French language proficiency, PPP level, will be evaluated by the assessment committee.

• A post-graduate diploma, master's degree or doctorate from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics or adult second-language teaching, or in any other field relevant to the position.
Asset Qualifications - Experience
• Experience teaching French as a second language to adult learners working in the federal public service.
• Experience in teaching using technology (virtual or online teaching).
• Experience in developing teaching materials in a government context.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION
Various assessment tools may be used in this process, such as, a take-home exercise/exam, an interview, reference checks, review of performance evaluations, online competency/ability test, etc.
You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Appointment decisions may be based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Matching of the individual's experience or qualifications to the specific duties of the position being staffed.
- Depth, breadth, type of work-specific experience.
- Level/degree of one or more competencies/qualifications.
Depending on the number of applicants, volume management strategies such as random selection, top-down approach and/or establishing cut-off scores to determine who will continue in the staffing process, may be used for the purpose of managing applications. Please note that although you may attain the established pass mark on any of the assessments used in this staffing process, management may decide to use a higher cut off score.
