The purpose of this process is to create and maintain an inventory of candidates seeking Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Secondment, Specified period to fill various positions in the Science and Technology Branch at Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Applications will be pulled from the inventory regularly to meet immediate needs. Depending on the position to be filled, other qualifications may be required by the hiring manager(s). You will have the opportunity to provide relevant information for any additional qualifications that may be required.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
EXPERIENCE
EX1.Experience analyzing environmental scientific information and/or environmental data in order to write scientific reports.
EX2. Experience analyzing environmental scientific information in order to develop recommendations for management or clients.
EX3.Significant* experience working collaboratively with a variety of individuals (e.g., colleagues, managers, governments, private sector organizations, advocacy groups, academia, and Indigenous groups).
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of one year of full-time work. Work is defined as a paid position, volunteer position or academic position (e.g., graduate studies).
Additionally for PC-03 positions:

The extent of experience will be used to distinguish eligibility for PC-02 and PC-03 positions. One (1) to two (2) years of experience is required for the PC-03 positions.

EDUCATION
Masters or doctoral degree in a field related to the position.
EXPERIENCE
Depending on the position being filled, one or more of the following asset criteria may be invoked.
AE1. Experience preparing briefing materials for management* on scientific, technical, program, or operational issues
AE2. Experience in resource management. (e.g., permitting) and/or regulation development or implementation
AE3.Experience providing scientific, policy or program advice on wildlife conservation, wildlife trade, domestic or international biodiversity, or resources or environmental management issues
AE4. Experience in using computer programming languages, such as, but not limited to Java, Python, Matlab, R or Fortran, for scientific data management or scientific data analysis
AE5. Experience in analyzing and interpreting climate, weather, hydrological, pollutant or other environmental data
AE6.Experience creating or using databases, spreadsheets or other data analytics tools to manipulate large datasets
AE7. Experience in analyzing industrial process-related data and writing reports on these
AE8. Experience with geospatial data and/or tools
AE9. Experience in land sector industries such as agriculture or forestry

Qualifications may be assessed by a variety of tools and methods. Therefore, a written exam, an interview, reference checks or other assessment methods may be used in this process. Candidates are expected to make a reasonable effort to make themselves available for assessments as scheduled. Pass marks will be established for each qualification. However, achieving the pass mark is not a guarantee of an appointment or that candidates will be put through the next stages of the assessment process. A cut-off score may be used and top-down approach may be used at any step if there is a sufficient number of candidates to meet immediate and anticipated staffing needs.
Qualified persons must meet each assessed essential qualification to be appointed to the position. However, a person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
