ISED is transitioning to a hybrid work environment to leverage the best of both in-person and virtual work to deliver results. To foster a dynamic environment for purposeful in-person connections, most employees will be working part time at their designated ISED worksite on a weekly basis, and the remainder of the time from their telework location.
This job has been identified as ‘hybrid’. Generally, employees in a hybrid job can anticipate working from their designated ISED location from two to three days per week.

EDUCATION FOR EC-05 & EC-06 POSITION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization* in economics, sociology, or statistics.
The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
* Acceptable specialization is at least one full year course or two half-year courses in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.

EXPERIENCE FOR EC-05 POSITION:
- Significant** experience in conducting research and analysis and providing options, recommendations, and advice to senior management on complex issues.
- Significant** experience in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with a variety of partners and stakeholders.
- Significant** experience in writing and editing documents (e.g. policy papers, research papers, position papers, background papers, briefing notes, presentation decks, etc.) for senior management.
- Experience working in a team environment.

EXPERIENCE FOR EC-06 POSITION:
- Significant*** experience conducting research, synthesized complex ideas, developing options and providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management.
- Significant*** experience preparing and providing complex verbal and written briefings, reports, strategic advice and decision documents to senior management.
- Significant*** experience establishing and maintaining harmonious relationships and networks, and building consensus with partners, and representing your organization by participating in various fora/committees.
- Significant*** experience leading or coordinating various stages of a complex initiative or project.
- Significant*** experience leading project teams, working groups and/or working level discussions of a multi-disciplinary nature to reconcile different viewpoints, to integrate and influence strategies and plans, and to recommend options to decision makers.

- Knowledge of the British Columbian economy and factors that affect economic development in the province; as well as current federal and provincial economic programs, policies, priorities and issues that are relevant in British Columbia. (Proficiency level 3) – demonstrates an understanding of relevant government legislation, and business, economic, social, legal and policy issues and practices, within the role of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, related departments, other government organizations, and private sector stakeholder/partners
