NRCan’s Technology Accessibility Centre assists employees so they can contribute to their full potential in the workplace. This is done through expertise in specialized computer technology, accommodations and ergonomic coaching. Working with the TAC team you will provide support services that focus on computer environment requirements and finding technology/workstation solutions on an individualized basis.
Duties:
• Perform Technical Accommodation Assessments and Workstation Assessments; Interprets, analyses, defines client specific issues and requirements; Researching, identifying and recommending solutions, preventative ergonomic measures and equipment (hardware, software and furniture); Create and maintain accurate documentation across multiple platforms;
• Provide technical support to employees who require specific assistive technology including software installation, selection of specialized devices, providing guidance/training on the use of accessible tools available in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer related solutions to enable employees to work to the best of their ability.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and implement individual job accommodation plans where technology/workstation solutions are required.
• Provide expertise and guidance to Workplace Accommodation, managers, staff and other stakeholders regarding technology related workplace accommodations.

EXPERIENCES:
EX1: Experience in support and delivery of IT solutions and services.

EX4: Experience in conducting assessments and generating comprehensive reports for individuals in need of assistive technology (software/hardware) while offering tailored solutions.

EDUCATION

Education
The minimum standard is:
• Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
