🐟 Did you know? Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) leads the management of Canada’s fisheries and the safeguarding of Canadian waters. The Canadian Coast Guard, a Special Operating Agency within DFO, is responsible for services and programs that contribute to the safety, security, and accessibility of Canada’s waterways.
→ The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of partially qualified candidates to staff various bilingual administrative assistant positions in the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard. These positions are located in Ottawa (Ontario).

✔️ A Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

✔️ Experience in providing client services.
✔️ Experience in using the Microsoft Office suite (or equivalent), such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
✔️ Experience in performing administrative and/or operational services*.
*Administrative and/or operational services are defined as, but not limited to: coordinating meetings; managing correspondence; preparing and collating meeting file folders and background materials, procuring office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system, data entry; drafting, editing, verifying and proofreading correspondence and/or reports, producing various reports for management and other related duties.

⓵ Application
→ To be submitted between October 23, 2023, and October 25, 2023, inclusively.
You will need to answer the Screening Questions in which you must demonstrate how you meet every criteria in the Essential Qualifications listed above in your online application. Do not forget to provide concrete examples of your work experience.
⓶ Second Language Evaluations - Reading comprehension and Writing expression.
→ To be completed between October 26, 2023, and November 1, 2023, inclusively.
If you already have valid* Second Language Evaluation results in Reading comprehension and Writing expression, you will need to provide them to us at the latest on November 1st, 2023. You can obtain a copy of your results by submitting a request here: https://www5.psc-cfp.gc.ca/form/ppc-cpp/test-examen-result/result-eng.htm.
*Valid Second Language Evaluations results are issued by the Public Service Commission and must not be expired.
⓷ Take-home Written Exam
→ To be completed between November 7, 2023, and November 9, 2023, inclusively.
You will be invited to perform an online written take-home exam.
⓸ Interview
→ Will take place on November 22, 2023, and November 23, 2023.
You will be invited to an interview conducted virtually* or in person: it’s up to you!
*The Microsoft Teams (MS Teams) video conferencing platform will be used, the video function in MS Teams will be used throughout the interview.
⓹ Pool establishment
If successful at all stages, you will be placed on the list of partially qualified candidates and referred to hiring managers who may choose to do a reference check.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
