Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) works collaboratively with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis. Our vision is to support and empower Indigenous peoples to independently deliver services and address the socio-economic conditions in their communities.

The Lands and Economic Development (LED) sector plays a significant role in supporting this vision through the development and/or implementation of various lands, environment and economic development programs, policies and initiatives.

The successful candidates will be required to work in a hybrid work mode at one of offices across Canada. Employees are expected to perform their duties from a government of Canada physical workplace at least 2–3 days each week, or 40–60% of their regular schedule. A part-time telework agreement may be discussed and implemented at the time of hiring in accordance with the operational needs of the position to be filled.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to fill at least three Manager (Economic) positions.

This process could also be used to fill other positions at Lands and Economic Development. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates could be established to staff indeterminate or specified period, similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada with various tenure, location, linguistic profiles, conditions of employment and/or security requirements.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Note: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Significant* experience advising senior management (director or above) on complex** programs or policies or corporate planning and reporting issues.
- Experience working with other organizations or teams departments/sectors/branches in advancing strategic policy priorities.
- Experience preparing or managing the preparation of documents, such as: correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, analysis reports, question period cards, memoranda, speaking points, media lines or issue/discussion papers.
- Experience managing staff or leading teams.

*Significant experience means the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of the duties during a period of approximately 2 years.
**Complex issues are defined as involving at least two (2) of the following criteria: multi-year or multi-phase, sensitive or high profile, multiple stakeholders or jurisdictions, and competing objectives or priorities.
