The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.
In joining the Internal Audit and Evaluation Sector as an Internal Audit Principal, you will contribute to the provision of independent, timely and objective assurance and consulting services to senior management at CSC. We are building a strong, vibrant, and diverse team of professionals.
Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff indeterminately, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements. EXPERIENCE
STREAM A only – Audit Operations
Significant* experience supervising audit teams in the conduct of audit engagements.
Significant* experience leading all phases of audit engagements (planning, examination, reporting).
STREAM B only – Practice Management
Experience in contributing to organization-wide risk-based audit planning.
Significant* experience establishing and maintaining productive collaborative working relationships with various internal and/or external stakeholders.
STREAM A and B (applies to both)
Significant experience* providing advice and/or recommendations to senior management**.
Significant* experience writing and presenting briefing material to senior management**.
*Significant experience is normally associated with the performance of the duties for approximately three (3) years.
** Senior management is defined as director level or above.

A professional internal auditing designation (CIA, CGAP, CISA), or a recognized Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA).
EXPERIENCE
STREAM A only – Audit Operations
Experience presenting the findings of audit engagements to Departmental Audit Committee.
STREAM B only – Practice Management
Experience implementing quality assurance and improvement program activities.
Experience implementing management action plan follow-up activities.
Experience conducting evaluations in the federal public sector.
STREAM A and B (applies to both)
Experience conducting internal audits in the federal public sector.
Experience with data analytics and visualization software (e.g. IDEA, PowerBI)
Experience supervising employees***.
*** Employees: applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised and the duration of this experience.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
STREAM A only – Audit Operations
Willingness and ability to travel.
Willingness and ability to conduct field visits to correctional facilities and remote sites, as required.
