You have interpersonal skills, are passionate about the outdoors and you care about the environment, this opportunity might interest you.

Intelligence officers are responsible for obtaining information to assist in the intelligence process and thereby facilitate the fulfillment of one of Fisheries and Oceans Canada's mandates, the conservation and protection of marine resources. As part of their work, intelligence officers must develop various strategic partnerships, use various surveillance techniques, interviewing, computer research and report writing techniques. Sometimes they have to work alone and sometimes in teams.

Refresher training may be required for candidates from outside the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, which may be held outside the province, lasting 6 to 7 weeks.

In order to facilitate the integration of new intelligence officers and to improve some of their knowledge, they may be required to participate in the monitoring of fishing activities, in the same way as fishery officers, for a few weeks or months at the beginning of their employment.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to fill 3 positions: 1 bilingual position in Gaspé, 1 bilingual position in Sept-Îles and 1 French essential position in Quebec City.

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles as well as various security clearances within Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).

**This pool MAY also be shared with other organizations within the core public administration in order to facilitate appointments of candidates from the pool to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level to their respective organizations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

🎓EDUCATION
Successful completion of the Fishery Officer Career Progression Program (FOCPP) OR an accredited law enforcement program.

Degree equivalency

🧪EXPERIENCE
Experience conducting intelligence probes, criminal investigations or regulatory investigations related to the enforcement of fisheries or fauna.
Experience developing and maintaining working relationships with internal or external stakeholders.
Experience liaising with enforcement or intelligence agencies.
Experience providing advice or recommendations to management.
Experience using investigative interviewing techniques.

Experience as an Affiant on Judicial Authorizations.
Experience testifying in court.
