Phenotyping of traits associated with nitrogen use efficiency in Brassica napus which could include the following: conducting field trials, sampling and processing of plant and seed samples, development of protocols, statistical analysis and interpretation of data, writing of reports and manuscriptions, contribution to discussions on goals, objectives and methods of the larger research project on the topic.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) provides information, research and technology, and policies and programs to achieve security of the food system, health of the environment and innovation for growth.
AAFC provides a dynamic, multi-disciplinary work environment with well-equipped plant breeding laboratories and facilities including greenhouse and phytotron facilities, field plot land and equipment, well-equipped laboratories for molecular marker-assisted selection, oilseed quality analysis and production of doubled haploids. The successful candidate will be involved in generating and analyzing data associated with genetic variation for nitrogen use efficiency traits in Brassica napus.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a PhD program at a recognized post-secondary institution in the following specializations: plant genetics and breeding.
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.
The student must meet the eligibility criteria to enroll at the University of Saskatchewan.
Experience:
Experience* in canola agronomy or plant breeding.
Experience* conducting canola nitrogen use efficiency experiments.
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
