Duties

Are you passionate about geosciences? Would you like to work with experts from across the country to help Canada in geosciences? If so, the position of Geoscience Research Professional at the Quebec Division of the Geological Survey of Canada could be for you.

The candidate will be responsible to:
1. Planning the logistics of laboratory and field work, as well as carrying out these activities.
2. Collect, validate, and format multisource data as part of scientific activities related to the study of diverse mineralized systems.
3. Carry out the systematic integration and monitoring of analysis results, carry out quality/compliance checks and monitor the use of internal standards.
4. Collect, prepare, and document sample measurements/observations.
5. Interpret raw and published laboratory and field data.
6. Contribute to the dissemination of results by preparing reports, databases, graphics and by participating in the preparation of publications and scientific communications.
7. Collate, synthesize, and enter relevant geoscientific information into organizational databases.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) English or French essential, PC-02 position, on a determinate basis until March 31, 2027.

A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period employment, acting, deployment, assignment or secondment), with various linguistic requirements and for various bilingual linguistic profiles, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in geology, physics, chemistry, or some other science relevant to the position.

Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Collecting, validating, and analysing multi-source data, such as petrography or geochemistry.
- Prepare scientific reports and presentations.

- In ore deposit, metamorphic, igneous, or sedimentary petrology.
