This anticipatory process is to staff the Director of Natural Resources position in Tokyo, Japan, under NRCan’s initiative of the Indo-Pacific Strategy to expand natural resources ties—in trade, investment, and science, technology and innovation—with the Indo-Pacific Region. This process may be used to create a pool of qualified Candidates to staff similar positions within the Department of Natural Resources Canada in the future.

Education:
Graduation with degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization including but not limited to: economics, natural resources (including energy, mining, minerals, remote sensing, forestry, fuels), international relations, and interdisciplinary studies relevant to the preceding.
Experience:
• Experience in preparing reports or memoranda including analysis, proposals and recommendations for the use of senior officials (eg. Minister, Deputy Minister, CEO, President).
• Experience in conducting analysis to support federal decisions and policy development related to energy and natural resources;
• Experience working on international issues related to Japan and the North Pacific region;
• Experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships with other federal departments and agencies, other levels of government and other stakeholders including businesses;
• Experience* in managing human and financial resources.
*Experience consists of managing the salary and operational budget for a team, as well as performance and deliverables for employees.
