The position is located at the Joseph Shepard Federal Building at 4900 Yonge Street in Toronto, Ontario. This job has been identified as hybrid. Generally, employees in a hybrid job can anticipate working from their designated PSPC location a minimum of 40% of the time each month, which equates to an average of two days per week. The Occupational Health and Safety Advisor / Disability Management Coordinator roles supports management and employees by providing advice and recommendations on Public Services and Procurement Canada’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program and Disability Management Program (DMP). This includes:
• Conducting research and analysis on legislation and policies,
• Providing case management services, tools and advice for workplace accommodations,
• Monitoring and reporting compliance with federal and/or provincial legislation, codes, and standards
• Delivering training and awareness sessions
• Coordinating and facilitating multi-disciplinary team meetings and discussions to determine appropriate recommendations for accommodation needs

The intent of this process is to establish a fully qualified pool of candidates that will be used to staff positions in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety OR Disability Management. Candidates considered for the Occupational Health and Safety role must meet the operational requirements listed herein. At time of posting, one position will be staffed for a specified period (term) with a Disability Management focus. Education:
A secondary school diploma OR an acceptable* combination of education, training and/or experience in Occupational Health and Safety OR Disability Management.
*Acceptable - Suitable for a position as determined by the manager unless otherwise regulated by the employer.
Experience:
1. Experience applying legislation and policies.
2. Experience providing advice to managers and/or employees on Occupational Health and Safety requirements OR Disability Management.
Education:
A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a program related to the position (e.g. occupational health and safety, occupational therapy, industrial hygiene or relations, ergonomics, disability management, etc.)
Experience:
1. Experience in case management of Occupational Health and Safety OR Disability Management files.
2. Experience in facilitating training or information sessions.
Operational Requirements for the Occupational Health and Safety role:
1. Willingness and ability to occasionally travel (day trips and/or overnight stays)
2. Possession of a valid driver’s license or personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a driver’s license
3. Willingness and ability to navigate various surfaces and equipment
