The IRB has adapted the hybrid work model for the federal public service in alignment with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat directive. Our hybrid model consists of an on-site presence of at least 2 days a week, or 40% of the time.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff two (2) indeterminate positions at the bilingual imperative BBB/BBB and bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC levels.

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles as well as various security clearances within the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

► EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Notes:
1. Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor’s degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
2. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.

Degree equivalency

► EXPERIENCE
• Experience interviewing clients to understand their business needs and to propose and deliver various communications or marketing products to support these needs.
• Experience analyzing the efficacy of communications or marketing products in their role of supporting communications or marketing strategies.
• Experience leading small dedicated, internal teams in the development of communications or marketing products.

NOTE:
Experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities which are normally acquired over a minimum full-time period of 18 months. The amount, the complexity, and the diversity of activities, as well as the autonomy level will be taken into consideration

EDCUATION:
• A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or in a field relevant to the position.

In order to ensure placement of IRB employees affected by Workforce Adjustment (WFA), we are asking all affected employees who are interested in this position to apply. Since a pool of qualified candidates will be established from this process, we will proceed with the assessment of all candidates. However, should affected employees qualify; they will be appointed prior to other qualified candidates.

It is important to note that if an employee is no longer affected by WFA at the time of appointment, he cannot be appointed ahead of other affected qualified candidates.

Please note that achieving a pass mark on any of the assessment used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. The selection board may decide to use a cut-off score that is higher than the pass mark on any evaluation used throughout the process.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
