The First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) of Indigenous Services Canada strives to provide access to quality health services, improve health outcomes, and support greater control of the health system by First Nations and Inuit.
We are currently looking for a pharmacist to join the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Saskatchewan team. The NIHB program is a national program that provides eligible registered First Nations and recognized Inuit coverage for a range of medically necessary health benefits when these benefits are not otherwise covered through private or provincial/territorial health insurance plans or social programs. We are searching for a collaborative and strategic individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, with a strong focus on quality client service.
The NIHB Saskatchewan Regional Pharmacist will work as an integrated part of the NIHB Saskatchewan management team, working in a variety of areas, including providing drug education to First Nations communities and organizations, liaising with community pharmacies, the College of Pharmacists, and post-secondary institutions, being the point of contact for Saskatchewan with the NIHB national office on the NIHB pharmacy benefit, and working horizontally with other health professionals both within and outside the department on inter-disciplinary health issues and projects.
While the core NIHB Saskatchewan team is located in Regina, the successful candidate may be located in any one of Indigenous Services Canada’s Saskatchewan offices. Indigenous Services Canada is working in a hybrid work environment, where employees may request to work up to 60% of the time from home.
While the position is currently a full-time position, a part-time schedule may be considered upon request for the right candidate, with a minimum of 22.5 hours, or 3 days, per week.
By joining our team, you will have opportunity to provide direct support to health services and community based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.
This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to staff indeterminate, term, secondment, assignment, deployment or acting appointments. Currently, Saskatchewan region has one vacancy.
The intent is also to staff positions via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program (APEP), which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal/Indigenous representation within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB). As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal/Indigenous Peoples.
