First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB), Indigenous Services Canada, is recruiting Registered Nurses to provide quality, evidence-informed services, respectful of culture and intended to enhance the health of First Nations peoples in Saskatchewan. Health Care programs are designed in partnership with community members and leaders to promote environments that support good health. The maintenance of cultural competence and the provision of culturally safe care is paramount.
The Nurse Practice Advisor - Home and Community Care provides leadership and professional support, education and awareness to nurses practicing in home care nursing. In collaboration with identified Program Managers, they support First Nations leadership and communities with advice, assistance and guidance in all matters relating to Home Care services within Saskatchewan.
By joining our team, you will provide direct support to health services and community based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations communities, families, and individuals with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.
The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis based out of Regina or Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan.
A pool of qualified or partially assessed candidates may be established and used to staff identical or similar positions at this group and level with various conditions of employment, tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate), and in various locations.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse in a province or territory of Canada
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in providing Home Care or Primary Care Nursing in one or more of the following areas:
• Wound management
• Chronic disease management
• Palliative care
-->Experience with community engagement
-->Experience managing or leading a healthcare program, healthcare services, or healthcare team
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
•A Master’s degree in Nursing or a field related to health
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience with community development principles and strategies
• Experience with teaching or giving presentations
• Experience working with Indigenous people or organizations
• Experience in interpreting and implementing best practice guidelines
• Experience using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Electronic Service Delivery Reporting Template

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion
•Willingness and ability to work overtime in the event of a public health emergency or outbreak
• Availability for regional and national travel. Incumbents may be required to travel by vehicle or small fixed-wing aircraft, and occasionally into remote northern locations
•May be required to be temporarily reassigned to other communities as operationally required
•Willingness to relocate to Saskatchewan
•Reliability status security clearance
•Possession of a valid driver’s license
•Current BLS Certification (healthcare provider CPR)
•Continuous professional registration, without conditions or restrictions, with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan
