Duties

✨The User Experience and Engagement sector consists of three main branches: Outreach and Engagement, Access and Services, and Communications and Policy. The Director General of Outreach and Engagement oversees the following functions: programming, community engagement, partnerships, and Indigenous initiatives. This role requires visionary and strategic leadership, as LAC aims to reach new audiences through programs that cater to user needs, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the understanding of a range of stories and a common heritage, while furthering LAC’s commitment to reconciliation.

More specifically, the Director General leads the delivery of programs and services that promote knowledge of the truth and stories preserved in archives and books; implements solutions tailored to user needs in various contexts (national, virtual, etc.); oversees the design and execution of effective and efficient services; works closely with other sectors, branches, and stakeholders; ensures that LAC plays a key role in the library and archival community; demonstrates leadership in implementing reconciliation initiatives at LAC; recruits and mobilizes a team possessing essential competencies; and ensures that LAC maintains a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Intent of the process

📢The intent of this process is to fill the position of Director General, Outreach and Engagement within the User Experience and Engagement Sector on a full-time, indeterminate basis. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established as a result of this process at the EX-02 group and level.
