Important messages

We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

Assessment accommodation

In addition to your application, you are required to answer screening questions in order to clearly demonstrate with concrete examples how you meet each essential education and experience qualification, as well as any asset qualifications. It is not sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Rather you must clearly demonstrate HOW, WHEN, and WHERE the qualification was met through substantiation by examples. Resumes will only be used as a secondary source to validate the information provided in your answers to the screening questions. Please note that responses such as "Refer to résumé" are unacceptable responses to any of the questions. Failure to clearly demonstrate how you meet the essential screening criteria will result in the rejection of your application. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or missing information.

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

ASSESSMENT
The assessments for this process are: a written assessment, an interview and reference checks.

SELF DECLARATION
CSC is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse workforce that is reflective of the communities we serve. We encourage all applicants who identify as a member of a designated employment equity group to self-declare on their application.

CITIZENSHIP INFORMATION
In your application, please identify the legal status which entitles you to work in Canada - Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or work permit. You will be asked to show proof of this status in order to complete the security screening required for employment. Failure to provide this information will eliminate your application from further consideration.

Individuals without Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status will only be considered if all other applicants are determined to be not qualified.

Duties

Provision of physical and mental health care, assistance with personal care needs (such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) and facilitation of social interaction and recreational activities in a hospital or health care setting within a Correctional Service Canada institution, often for geriatric or psychogeriatric patients.

Work environment

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) hires skilled Client Care Assistants from all backgrounds and areas of expertise to support the aging offender population and patients with extensive psychosocial needs.

Client Care Assistants at CSC play an important role in providing quality care to offenders incarcerated in Canada's federal institutions; they work in accredited mental health facilities as well as in Health Services Centers.

In their daily work, Client Care Assistants in CSC contribute to the interdisciplinary team and focus on the prevention, care, and support of acute and chronic physical and mental health conditions of offenders.

Their interventions are extremely valued as they assist in maintaining the safety of Canadians by helping to improve offender health and reintegration into the community.
