Assessment accommodation

💻Written evaluations will be conducted online. Interviews will be conducted online or in person in Longueuil, to the preference of the candidate. Evaluations and interviews are planned around the following dates:
- Understanding the space environment and space technology test: In October
- Knowledge tests: Late October, November
- Interviews: Early January.

NOTES
- All candidates must first complete the online exam to assess their knowledge of the space environment. A passing grade is required to proceed with the next steps of the assessment.

- Afterwards, each of the below 15 basic technical knowledge fields will be assessed through an online exam (subtests). Candidates must register for at least 1 of the 15 subtests. Each subtest will last 30 minutes. Choosing to complete a subtest indicates an interest in working in this field.

- To proceed to the interview stage, a passing grade is required in at least 1 of the 15 basic technical knowledge subtests.

- The Project Management and Machine Learning subtests are optional and administered in addition to the basic technical knowledge subtests.

- Once selected for a position, the candidate will be going through a last Technical Best Fit Evaluation to ensure that the candidate’s competencies are a good match to the requirements of their future team.

Duties

⭐ Support the preparation of internal project reviews.
⭐ Conduct experiments and/or analyses as directed by senior engineers.
⭐ Resolve individual problems related to technology integration and the modification of space systems in support of engineering projects.
⭐ Assist senior engineers in technical activities and in conducting tests, experiments and studies on processes, systems and hardware. Prepare reports on specific results of experiments, tests and studies, and provide preliminary interpretations.

Intent of the process

This appointment process is part of an integrated succession planning and management approach in the field of space engineering at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).

This appointment process will be used to fill engineering positions at the EN-ENG-02 to EN-ENG-03 levels through a development program. As soon as they start working, the selected candidates will be integrated into an on-the-job professional development program.

A pool of candidates will be created following this appointment process. The pool may be used to fill identical or similar positions with varying tenures (term or indeterminate), various locations and language profiles at the Canadian Space Agency.

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be formed to fill positions at the Headquarters of the Canadian Space Agency in Longueuil, Québec, as well as the David Florida Laboratory in Ottawa, Ontario.

Work is on site and teleworking is granted on an ad hoc basis for short periods of time while respecting operational constraints.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION - EDUCATION

🎓 Have completed by May 2024 a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering discipline related to the position or be eligible** for registration on the roll of a Canadian professional order of engineers as a trainee or junior engineer.

*A degree refers to a Bachelor’s degree. All requirements for the degree are met by May 2024 as attested by a registrar’s office, but the diploma can be emitted later than May 2024
** eligible means that the candidate has met all the requirements to register by May 2024 as could be attested by a registrar’s office.

EN-ENG-02 positions are English essential or French essential. However, most EN-ENG-03 positions have a bilingual BBB/BBB language profile. Employees who do not achieve the BBB level in both official languages at the time of their EN-ENG-02 appointment will therefore be given a few hours a week to improve their second official language.
