Duties

One (1) position is to be filled within the Director General’s Office, as the Senior Advisor subject matter expert. The incumbent will be providing key strategic advice, coordinating and planning the horizontal integration of the branch’s activities, engage with other custodial departments on key files, and lead sensitive files. This position will have managerial responsibilities.

Up to four (4) positions are to be filled within the Portfolio Planning Division. Two (2) positions are in the Business Intelligence team and two (2) positions are in the Strategic Planning team. These positions have managerial responsibilities and duties including developing strategic plans, acquiring portfolio information and intelligence through various studies and analysis, modernizing information management systems, monitoring portfolio performance (condition, usage, financial), developing dashboards, leading the development of portfolio strategies and implementation plans, and conducting various analysis, such as Investment Analysis Reports.

The Real Property and Environment Branch (RPEB) is a dynamic and forward-looking corporate services organization that aims to ensure that NRCan has optimal real property assets that enable the delivery of world class science programs while balancing sustainability and affordability. In order to respond to the Horizontal Fixed Asset Review, RPEB has embarked on an ambitious change agenda that involves leading NRCan through significant real property transformation as well as modernizing business practices, processes and systems. The organization is well connected to the Real Property Institute of Canada and works collaboratively with other government departments to share best practices, work collaboratively and problem solve together.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Candidates must always have a degree. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

4. Significant* experience conducting research, which could include collecting, extracting analyzing and interpreting information or large data set from multiple sources.

5. Experience in planning and/or implementing, and/or administering policy initiatives, programs, or projects related to real property and environment domain, listed above.

Definitions:
* Significant is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties for a minimum of 3 years.
** Senior management refers to an executive level position (director level and equivalent and above)
*** The planning process is a process used to develop objectives, develop tasks to meet objectives, determine needed resources, create a timeline, determine tracking and assessment, finalize the plan, and distribute the plan to the team. This is normally prior to the execution phase.
