Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in science, engineering or another related field.
Experience in the provision of strategic advice to senior government officials.
Recent * experience in creating and managing collaboration with government(s), industry and academia.
Significant ** experience in managing complex, science/research organizations having significant human and financial resources.
Recent * experience overseeing development and implementation of programs and services that respond to national needs in an operational environment.
Experience liaising with national and/or international stakeholders.
*Recent experience is defined as being within the last five (5) years.
**Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience associated with having performed these activities for a period of two (2) years.

Graduation with a post-graduate degree from a recognized university in a field related to the duties of the position.
Experience in managing large science and/or technology organizations.
Knowledge of the scientific, political, economic and social issues within Canada as they relate to the priorities of Natural Resources Canada.
Knowledge of Geological Survey of Canada programs and strategic objectives and their contributions to the broader departmental and government priorities.
Knowledge of emerging trends and issues of concern at the provincial, national and international levels related to Geological Survey of Canada/Earth Sciences Sector/Natural Resources Canada
Willingness and ability to travel.
