Duties

In collaboration with management, unions and employees, implements and coordinates the departmental occupational health and safety program. The program aims to prevent accidents and occupational illnesses through: education; program evaluation and investigations; providing advice and making recommendations; manages and monitors injury/illness compensation/claim processes; and ensures compliance by implementing departmental policies and procedures tailored to ensure Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is in compliance with Federal Legislative Occupational Health and Safety, Regulations and administrative procedures.

Intent of the process

The initial intent of this process is to staff one (1) bilingual position.
This process will also be used to establish a pool of candidates that may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various linguistic requirements and various security profiles within Public Services and Procurement Canada in the following provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, and Alberta.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a post-secondary educational program related to Occupational Health and Safety or Disability Management.

OR

An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience related to Occupational Health & Safety and Disability Management.

*Acceptable combination defined as a high school diploma and 2 years of experience

EXPERIENCE:
E1. Significant* experience in providing advice and guidance to various stakeholders with respect to Occupational Health and Safety.
E2. Significant* experience in monitoring and coordinating cases of work-related injury/illness case management.
E3. Experience conducting research and analyzing information from multiple sources to make recommendation to senior management.
E4. Experience in delivering information or training sessions.

*Significant experience will be evaluated in regard to the depth and breadth, complexity, and diversity of the work handled, and the level of autonomy demonstrated.

AE2. Experience in managing Claims Case Management practices as it relates to the Federal Government.

Ability to move freely, quickly and without assistance over great distances and on surfaces that are sometimes uneven.

Possess a valid driver’s license in Canada
Must be able to travel, and work extended hours as required
