The Regional Communication Officer provides services to victims, their representatives, advocacy groups, media, criminal justice partners and the public. They accompany observers including registered victims to provincial and federal institutions, respond to media and public enquiries, and manage a program of public education by delivering information sessions to criminal justice partners and clients, stakeholders, and the general public.
The Parole Board of Canada (PBC) is an independent administrative tribunal which, as an integral part of the Canadian criminal justice system, makes sound decisions on conditional release and record suspension, and makes recommendations on clemency. The PBC contributes to the protection of society by promoting the timely reintegration of offenders as law-abiding citizens. Public safety is the primary consideration in all PBC decisions.

EXP1: Significant* Experience in preparing written correspondence to explain legislation, policies or procedures;
EXP2: Significant* Experience in providing advice and expertise related to legislation, procedures or policies to different stakeholder such as management, clients, justice system partners, etc.
*Significant means generally a minimum of two (2) years of experience

Education
AED1. Post-secondary degree or diploma (university or college) in a field related to the duties of the position (social science, juridical science, law, political science, public administration, criminology, sociology, social work, psychology, communication, etc.)
Experience
AE1. Experience in providing services to crime victims or any person in need of assistance or support
AE2. Experience working within the justice system
AE3. Experience working in communications, public relations or information services

Operational Requirements
- Willing and able to travel to various locations, including various federal institutions, community correctional centres and parole offices (this may include being away overnight);

- Willing and able to work overtime on occasion;
- Willing and able to travel on short notice.
