In keeping with the Transport Canada safety mandate, “Safe and Secure, Green and Innovative, and Efficient transportation system.” and Transport Canada Civil Aviation’s role of promoting safety of the national air transportation system, the Manager, NAC Quality Management System & Safety Management Systems will plan and coordinate the development of standardized processes that are applied to all NAC activities within the NAC QMS and SMS scope, and verify the consistent delivery of high-quality service to the aviation industry and surveillance of aviation systems.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
• Manages and directly supervises assigned human, financial and material resources
• Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the NAC QMS program
• Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the NAC SMS program
• Conducting regular oversight activities of approved organizations, writing reports, and following up on areas of concern
• Reviewing and approving company documentation related to industry’s compliance to SMS regulations
• Coordinate with all areas of expertise involved in the certification of aeronautical products
Our offices are in Ottawa, Ontario. A hybrid work policy is currently in place at Transport Canada.
The intent of this process is to staff one bilingual imperative BBB/BBB position at the TI-07 group and level. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions in the future at Transport Canada.

Education
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
Experience
EX1: Experience in the development or the implementation of a Safety Management System and/or a Quality Management System framework and key performance indicators.
EX2: Experience providing advice and recommendations to management, by proactively identifying issues and formulating solutions.
EX3: Experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. other groups, units, departments, branches; other government organizations, the private sector, or interest group associations).
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Education
AED: Post-secondary education in the field of aviation or aviation management.
Experience
AEX1: Experience in the safety oversight and technical investigation within an aeronautical organization.
AEX2: Experience in the application of safety management systems (SMS).
AEX3: Experience in the application of quality management systems (QMS).
AEX4: Relevant experience managing human resources.
AEX5: Relevant experience in project management.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
