Duties

Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, approximately 68,000 Regular Force and 27,000 Reserve Force strong and spread across 28 bases and support units, receive the same standard of health care and publicly funded benefits and services that Canadians receive under provincial health care plans. This applies while they are in Canada or when deployed overseas. The vision of the Canadian Forces Health Services (CFHS) is to provide a “modern, integrated, effective and efficient health system that respects and understands the unique needs of those who serve.” The successful candidates will be key members of the CFHS strategic leadership team.

EDUCATION
↪ Graduation with a medical degree from a recognized school of medicine.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
↪ Eligibility for a licence to practice medicine in a province or territory of Canada.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
↪ Experience as a senior clinician in a complex, interdisciplinary healthcare environment;
↪ Experience supervising an interdisciplinary health care team;
↪ Experience in human, financial and material resource management;
↪ Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management (Senior management is defined as Director or Chief of department level and above);
↪ Experience working with Internet search engines as well as Microsoft suite applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc;

↪ Experience in the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of an addiction medicine treatment program;
↪ Experience participating as a reviewer in a formal peer review process;
↪ Experience conducting medical literature reviews and producing review summaries;
↪ Experience serving on a Medical Advisory Committee, Credentialing Committee, or similar professional body within a health care environment;
↪ Experience working with military medical administration processes;
↪ Experience researching, developing & applying professional regulatory frameworks (legal & policy).
